In a recent podcast episode distributed and produced by NPR, Up First, reporter Camila Domonoske took a road trip across the southeast with the US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm. The segment deals with the availability (or lack thereof) of public EV fast charging across the country and the very real chicken-and-egg problem this presents for EV sales in the country.

EV sales will lag until people feel confident that when they travel out on the open road with their EV that there’s plenty of places to stop and charge and they won’t be left stranded somewhere after running out of charge. But there’s not much of an incentive to build EV infrastructure until there’s enough EVs on the road to justify the construction expense.

While some people consider this a problem, those in the electrical industry should consider it a massive opportunity

There is large amounts of federal funding and incentives available at an increasing rate to install EV charging infrastructure in all 50 states, not to mention the huge push among private industry to be the second to market (behind Tesla) with a nation-wide fast charging network. We’re talking tens of thousands of commercial and industrial projects coming online in the next 12 months that will all require electricians and electrical engineers to implement. The scale is immense and, I think, an infrastructural upgrade similar to the construction of the interstate system in scope and price.

Those who jump onboard early will have a massive advantage and stand to make a tremendous amount of profit over the next couple of decades as this electrification revolution takes hold.

Condoit is front-and-center in this wave of electrical projects, with customers all over the US using our platform to streamline their site walk, data collection, new design, and estimating processes at scale. Some of our customers have hundreds of new EV projects on our platform and are adding more every day.

If you’re looking for your first steps towards engaging with this massive opportunity, sign up for a demo of our platform. Not only can we help your workforce handle the project load, but we can also give you some pointers and best practices for attacking this problem and being part of the solution.
