Over the past few months, we’ve seen an increase in interest for Condoit’s mobile application – nearly double the requests for product demos and users trying out our free version and signing up for a subscription. What’s our most popular request? Creating digital single-line diagrams for existing facilities.

We’ve learned that, while most electrical contractors are finding new ways to be innovative and increase efficiency in the field, once they get out to the job they find the facility owner either has no idea where the most recent diagram is located (likely rolled up in a closet or in a filing cabinet somewhere that only some guy named Bob knows about) or their SLD hasn’t been updated in 20 years. That just creates more challenges for the contractor and slows down the project drastically.

What is a digital single-line diagram?

A digital single-line diagram (SLD) is a graphical representation of an electrical power system that shows all the electrical components of the system, including generators, transformers, circuit breakers, and other devices. Instead of being framed on the wall or stashed under a desk however, digital versions can be saved on a computer, shared easily, and updated more frequently.

Why is it important for SLDs to be digital?

Digital SLDs often include additional information beyond the traditional paper-based SLD, such as data about the ratings and characteristics of electrical components, as well as notes and annotations about the system. Condoit goes even a step further by adding photos, markups, and comments that can be saved for historical records. Digital SLDs can also be easily updated and modified as the system changes over time, making them a valuable tool for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of the electrical system.
