A Brand New Identity for Condoit

A letter from CEO and Founder Ian Hoppe
The electrification of America is more than a buzzword; it’s a revolution. Many are working to bring this vision to life, navigating a landscape fraught with both new and old world challenges.

Electrification is not just about EV chargers and efficiency standards, and it’s bigger than any one administration or piece of legislation. Electrification is about transforming our infrastructure to meet the energy demands of the very near future. It’s happening now, whether you’re ready or not, and we should all see it as an immense opportunity.

It’s a huge undertaking that will eventually require the efforts and buy-in of everyone in the country but at the moment it presents a unique opportunity for the electrical industry—an opportunity on a scale not seen since the construction of the interstate highways under Eisenhower. The electrical professionals who embrace this challenge will be the ones who succeed in the years to come.

One problem stands out as the greatest bottleneck: the shortage of skilled labor to execute this transformation. While the world brims with companies and products ready for installation, we face a critical shortage of electricians—the true builders of this electrified future.

At Condoit, we are confronting this challenge head-on. Our mission is to dismantle this bottleneck and empower electricians, starting here in the U.S. and ultimately reaching across the globe. We believe that the key to the electrification revolution lies in the hands of electricians and electrical contractors. They are the linchpins of this movement, and we are committed to equipping them with the tools they need to succeed. These are the individuals with rough hands from years of hard work, who are out in the field every day, making electrification a reality.

This mission is personal to me. Coming from a family of electrical industry folk and having worked in the field myself, I understand the challenges firsthand. I started Condoit to address the very problems I faced: the frustrations of incorrect data collection and the need for better tools to manage the complexities of the job.

The Story Behind Condoit’s New Brand Identity

To mark this new chapter, we have rebranded with a bold vision for the future. Our new approach is not just a facelift; it is a declaration of our dedication to those who power our world. We have crafted a brand that speaks directly to electricians, acknowledging their pivotal role and addressing their unique challenges.

For this new look we worked closely with Wes Heaton, seasoned brand designer and creative intellect. Wes is currently the Creative Director and brand architect at EquipmentShare, a wild construction tech success story that focuses on jobsite connectivity and better technology for the commercial construction industry. Although there has been a boom in commercial construction spending productivity on these projects, technology has not kept pace. Contractors in the field were underserved when it came to cloud-based software solutions.

The trades have been largely neglected in the vast new landscape of innovation that has inhabited the rest of our lives. They are the most essential piece of the built world–the ones actually doing the building. They are tradesmen and women and the work they do is hard and complex and ripe for disruption. But many tech companies aren’t familiar enough with the industry to solve the real problems that need addressing first.

Enter Condoit.

Although we are a Seed stage company, we have seen an incredible response from the market already and were able to find the signs of product market fit early.

We needed a stronger brand identity that better represented who and what we are. To better communicate our mission and who we serve. We’ve assembled a visual identity that, we feel, has lived in the electrical space for a generation.

What Condoit Is (and Isn’t): Guiding Principles for Product Decision Making

Our guiding principles are at the heart of this transformation. These principles are not rules; they are powerful decision-making tools designed to steer our growth and change. We believe they align perfectly with the core values of the electrical industry.

Field Workers First:

Our primary focus is on empowering those in the field. While we support office staff and recognize their importance, our unwavering commitment is to the electricians and field workers—the backbone of our infrastructure. These individuals, who work tirelessly day in and day out, are the true builders of our future. We are dedicated to creating tools that make their jobs easier, safer, and more efficient.

Electrons Over Dollar Signs:

In an industry saturated with software solutions for construction estimation, scheduling, and time management, Condoit stands out by focusing exclusively on electricians. We prioritize their practical, day-to-day needs, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the infrastructure they work on. We intend to simplify their work, enhance their expertise, and put the information they need at their fingertips.

Existing Infrastructure Over New Infrastructure:

It’s relatively easy to design new infrastructure from scratch rather than deal with existing systems. The real world is far more complex and challenging. Especially in the realm of electrical infrastructure, understanding what is already in place is crucial. There are potentially dozens of electricians who have worked on a piece of equipment or system before you, often without leaving any records. This lack of documentation means there isn’t a clear understanding of the system as it currently exists. Our approach addresses these real-world challenges head-on, recognizing that upgrading and maintaining existing infrastructure is just as important as creating new. This principle guides us to make decisions rooted in the reality of the field, ensuring our solutions are grounded in the practicalities of everyday work.

I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of the creative process that led us to our new brand. I'm so excited to share out in the open. Our new look has a ton of intention behind it and I can’t wait for the next chapter in our growth journey with a brand that we really hope resonates with the electricians, journeymen, engineers, designers and electrical industry as a whole out there digging through closets looking for as-builts. I see you.

Below are some of the visual concepts, typefaces and schematics that Wes created during the brand exploration and development process he led us through. The first image here represents what drove and influenced the design work. These are derived from characteristics or values we shared with Wes in the design exploration stage that we want to champion and adhere closely to as a company and underpin our vision. The answer to “Who is Condoit?

Thank you for your continued support as we embark on this exciting journey. We look forward to working with you to drive innovation and excellence in our industry.
